New Zealand records 23 holidays in 2025. 11 are nationwide public holidays and 12 apply only in certain regions. Not one public holiday lands on a weekend in 2025 — every single one falls on a working day. Day after New Year's Day (2 Jan 2025), Waitangi Day (6 Feb 2025) and Christmas Day (25 Dec 2025) sit on a Tuesday or Thursday: book the Fridays and each becomes a four-day break. The busiest month is Apr, with 3 of them. The longest run without one is 129 days, between 20 Jun 2025 and 27 Oct 2025. The last was Boxing Day on 26 Dec 2025.
