Auckland/Northland Anniversary Day
Auckland Anniversary Day
Monday, 26 Jan 2026 · New Zealand · Regional (NZ-AUK, NZ-NTL, NZ-WKO, NZ-GIS, NZ-BOP) · Public holiday
Bridge day check
Falls on a Monday, so it makes a three-day weekend with no leave needed.
What the day is for
Officially recognised as a public holiday, so most people have the day off work. It applies only in certain regions rather than nationwide.
Do shops and banks close?
Expect offices, banks and the majority of shops to be closed.
Getting around
Public transport usually runs a Sunday or holiday timetable.
These notes come from the day's official classification rather than country-specific reporting, so treat them as general guidance for New Zealand.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
