Araw ng mga Bayani
National Heroes Day
Monday, 31 Aug 2026 · Philippines · Nationwide · Public holiday
Bridge day check
Falls on a Monday, so it makes a three-day weekend with no leave needed.
What the day is for
Held on the last Monday of August for the anonymous heroes of the revolution against Spain, rather than for any single figure. Ceremonies centre on the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig.
Do shops and banks close?
A regular holiday with premium pay rules; offices and banks close, retail opens.
Getting around
Long-weekend volumes out of Metro Manila from the Friday evening.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
