Bridge day check
Falls on a Thursday. Book the Friday off and you get a four-day weekend — the classic bridge day.
Book off 10 Apr 2026 for 4 days off.
What the day is for
Araw ng Kagitingan marks the 1942 fall of Bataan and honours the soldiers who endured the Death March. Wreath-laying at the Mount Samat shrine in Pilar is the main ceremony, attended by dwindling numbers of veterans and their families.
Do shops and banks close?
A regular holiday: government offices, banks and schools close, and private staff who work are owed double pay. Malls trade as usual.
Getting around
Normal services; heavy traffic on the roads into Bataan for the shrine ceremony.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
