The working day before New Year's Eve, Independence Day, Victory Day and Christmas Eve is shortened by three hours by law. The Victory Day-Midsummer pair effectively closes the country for several days.
If you're visiting
Midsummer bonfires empty Tallinn completely; shops, restaurants and even some hotels reduce service. Song festival years add enormous crowds in early July.
If you live here
Almost everything is bookable online, but government service desks close strictly on holidays; the June shutdown is the one to plan paperwork around.
