Defence Forces Day
Tuesday, 11 Aug 2026 · Zimbabwe · Nationwide · Public holiday
Bridge day check
Falls on a Tuesday. Book the Monday off and you get a four-day weekend — expect a lot of colleagues to do exactly that.
Book off 10 Aug 2026 for 4 days off.
What the day is for
Officially recognised as a public holiday, so most people have the day off work.
Do shops and banks close?
Expect offices, banks and the majority of shops to be closed.
Getting around
Public transport usually runs a Sunday or holiday timetable.
These notes come from the day's official classification rather than country-specific reporting, so treat them as general guidance for Zimbabwe.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
