Bridge day check
Falls on a Thursday. Book the Friday off and you get a four-day weekend — the classic bridge day.
Book off 15 May 2026 for 4 days off.
What the day is for
A Thursday holiday that most workplaces extend by taking the Friday, producing one of the year's reliable long weekends.
Do shops and banks close?
Banks and most shops closed on the day; Friday trades normally but thinly staffed.
Getting around
Sunday timetables and heavy outbound traffic on Wednesday evening.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
