What the day is for
Kenaikan Isa Almasih is one of several Christian dates kept as national holidays in a Muslim-majority country, reflecting the state recognition of six religions. Church services in the morning; a quiet day otherwise.
Do shops and banks close?
National holiday; banks and offices close. Shops and malls open.
Getting around
Normal services, though the government often adds a cuti bersama bridge day that makes it a long weekend with heavy outbound traffic.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
