Bridge day check
Falls on the weekend, so it costs most people no leave — and in many countries no day is given back.
What the day is for
Bettag, the third Sunday of September, is a rare shared Protestant-Catholic day of thanks and repentance; the following Monday is off in Vaud and a few other cantons.
Do shops and banks close?
Shops closed as on a Sunday; quiet-day rules restrict noisy work in some cantons.
Getting around
Sunday services.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
