Children's Day
Wednesday, 27 May 2026 · Nigeria · Nationwide · School holiday
Bridge day check
Falls midweek on a Wednesday. It splits the week rather than extending the weekend, so bridging costs two days of leave either side.
What the day is for
Part of the school calendar rather than a general day off.
Do shops and banks close?
Shops, offices and banks trade normally.
Getting around
Normal services, though commuter peaks are often lighter during term breaks.
These notes come from the day's official classification rather than country-specific reporting, so treat them as general guidance for Nigeria.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
