France records 20 holidays in 2026. 11 are nationwide public holidays and 9 apply only in certain regions. Assomption (15 Aug 2026) and Toussaint (1 Nov 2026) fall on a weekend in 2026, so they hand back no extra day off. Jour de l'an (1 Jan 2026), Ascension (14 May 2026) and Fête nationale (14 Jul 2026) sit on a Tuesday or Thursday: book the Mondays and Fridays and each becomes a four-day break. The busiest month is May, with 4 of them. The longest run without one is 95 days, between 1 Jan 2026 and 6 Apr 2026. The next is Toussaint on 1 Nov 2026.
