Bridge day check
Falls midweek on a Wednesday. It splits the week rather than extending the weekend, so bridging costs two days of leave either side.
What the day is for
28 October marks the Greek refusal of Mussolini's 1940 ultimatum, observed in Cyprus as in Greece with student and military parades.
Do shops and banks close?
Public holiday; banks, offices and most shops close.
Getting around
Sunday timetables with parade closures in Nicosia and Limassol.
When it falls each year
Floating holidays shift; fixed ones move only in which weekday they land on.
